Denver, CO: July 28, 2025— The National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA) is proud to announce it has received official approval and licensure from the Massachusetts Division of Occupational Licensure, Office of Private Occupational School Education. This milestone marks the twenty-seventh state to approve operations for NIMAA to continue its mission of providing access to high-quality, affordable, and innovative Medical Assistant training nationally.
This approval certifies that NIMAA meets all the requirements for private occupational schools across the Commonwealth. The licensure ensures the school operates in compliance with state standards regarding curriculum, facilities, staff, advertising, and student agreements.
NIMAA was founded by two leading Federally Qualified Health Centers, Salud Family Health and Community Health Center, Inc., to make post-secondary education and health careers accessible to students from medically underserved communities. NIMAA graduates are prepared to succeed in high-performing, team-based practices through a combination of flexible online learning and an extensive hands-on externship experience in NIMAA’s partner primary care clinics across the US.
“We are honored to receive approval in Massachusetts and look forward to partnering with local community health centers to help address the critical medical assistant workforce gap across the state,” said NIMAA Executive Director John Butt. “The more states where NIMAA is approved to operate, the more access becomes available to students who might not otherwise be able to afford top-tier accredited training for a health career in their community.”
NIMAA is now recruiting externship partners for its Spring and Fall 2026 cohorts. Learn more at nimaa.edu or email Director of Business and Partnership Development Ali Murray at [email protected].
