May 29, 2025, Denver, CO —The National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA) is proud to announce that Mary Blankson, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, FAAN, will be expanding her leadership role within the organization.
Dr. Blankson, who currently serves as NIMAA’s Clinical Director, will now also assume the title of Senior Program Development Director. In this new capacity, she will partner with NIMAA Executive Director John Butt and the school’s leadership to increase NIMAA’s national footprint, support efforts to expand the program to new states, and serve as a key liaison to organizations as they develop and enhance their medical assistant training programs.
Founded in 2016, NIMAA is a nonprofit education institute that trains students to become Medical Assistants (MAs) capable of working effectively in high-performing, team-based primary care settings. The organization was created to meet the demand for well-prepared MAs, and to address workforce shortages with an accessible, inclusive model. NIMAA offers a unique blend of online learning and hands-on externships that are hosted by clinical partners located in or near the communities where students live. NIMAA prepares students for the real-world challenges of modern healthcare delivery, especially in safety net settings such as community health centers.
In addition to her expanded responsibilities at NIMAA, Dr. Blankson will continue as Chief Nursing Officer at Community Health Center, Inc., based in Connecticut. As leader of CHC’s nursing team, Dr. Blankson has long been a champion for patient-centered care and access. Her clinical expertise and strategic leadership make her uniquely positioned to guide NIMAA in advancing its mission to strengthen the healthcare workforce through innovative education and training solutions. NIMAA and CHC are part of the Moses/Weitzman Health System, the first health system in the U.S. focused on primary care for underserved communities.
